Name:
Alesyn, but he prefers you call him Lord Alesyn
Age:
24
Gender:
Male
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Duties Around the Weyrhold:
He is the one that is trying to make sure everything gets done and some what back to normal. Is in charge of all the holders.
Rank:
Lord Holder
Appearance:
Alesyn is a very slender man. He used to be a bit more buff looking, but since the eruption he has lost most of his appetite and so has lost a lot of weight. He has still maintained all his muscle giving him a ripped look almost all over, but he is pretty weak. He is one of the tallest men on the island standing at six foot even, but he only weighs 130 pounds so his height does not give him the intimidating look that a more buff man would have at that height. His small size combined with his height make him look almost malnourished, which in all honesty he is a little.
His face is long and square in shape, his cheeks are a bit sunken in with high cheek bones. His eyes are almond in shape and a very dark hazel color that appears more brown most of the time. He has absurdly long eye lashes that would make any woman jealous. His nose is a bit on the short side and is a bit pointed upward. His chin is very pointed and has the tiniest bit of a cleft in it. Freckles lightly dot his cheeks and his nose, giving him a boyish look. All in all not a bad looking man.
His hair is a short cropped, dirt brown color that is normally in shambles. It's not that he doesn't try to make his hair look better, it's that his hair refuses to do anything he wants it too. He has a killer widow's peak and an awful cow lick that only add to the total unruliness that is Alesyn's hair. His hands are very rough from hard work and are rather big with long fingers. He has very wide shoulders and slightly more narrow hips. His abs resemble that of a drudge's washer board and his the calves on his legs are huge.
Alesyn prefers to wear very loose comfortable clothing. Though he will wear the more lavish and showy outfits befit a Lord Holder, but he does not care for them. Give him a relaxed pair of pants and a cool shirt, that's the kind of clothes he prefers. He has no fashion sense so if he is the one dressing himself his clothes will normally not match at all.
Personality:
Alesyn use to be a man full of life and energy. He could keep up with the strongest of the men at the Weyrhold and could out run about everyone. Life was a wonderment for him, so many new things and places to explore. There was no reason that anyone should be unhappy living in times such as this. Days held joy and peace and even the most mundane boring job brought a smile to his face. He loved to cut up and joke with his friends and siblings and he adored helping the beastcrafters, farmers, and just about everyone else with any job they had a spot for him in. He craved knowledge and understanding, believing one person could never know too much. Alesyn in those days could be described as the definition of living.
But that was then and this is now. No longer does the young man full of wonder still challenge everyone he meets to a foot race. Gone is the eternal youth that he portrayed day in and day out. Where once he would cut up and joke with friends and family alike, now he only brings sorrow and despair to the conversation. It's almost as if the former Alesyn was cracked up and all the good was scooped out of him. What is left is just the shell of the man he use to be. He is still kind and helping, not turning away any job a normal Lord Holder would find too beneath him. He still helps the breastcrafters, farmers, and any others that need an extra hand, but instead of doing it for the wonder of learning something new. He does it because it is something that needs to be done.
He still craves to know and understand all that is in this world, but it is no longer for the joy it brings him. Now he does it because he wishes to be prepared, so the next time the world flips upside down on them he will know what to do to make it better. Now his attitude is one of suffering with a sheer determination that he will over come all the hardships set out before the weyr even if he has to do it himself. Though he is only a young man, 24 turns, he has the wisdom and the intelligence of a man that has seen many more turns. All of his youthfulness left the day the volcano erupted and the weight of his position came crashing down on his shoulders.
He doesn't smile much anymore. When he does the smiles seem empty and sad. Most prefer him not to smile, but all want the old Alesyn back. He doesn't speak of his feelings any not even to his closest friends. So far none have seen him truly grieve for those he has lost. It seems the way he is dealing with it is by his personality change. He refuses to cry and will not show weakness under any circumstance. He is stubborn, especially when it comes to the Weyrleader, but he is reasonable and civil enough to not get into a full blown fist fight. What he needs right now is someone that will be able to break through the stone exterior he has built around himself. Until then he will never be happy or joyous, he will remain miserable and heart broken.
History:
Alesyn is the second oldest boy of Lord Nicosyn's children. Lord Nicosyn was a son of the Lord Holder of Crom and took over for him when he passed away. Lord Nicosyn however decided to hand over Crom to his oldest boy and he and the rest of his family decided to go with the weyr to a new place in the eastern archipeligo. He made this decision on the account that the cold weather was wearing on his sick wife's health. He knew a warmer climate would be much better for them. So he packed him, his wife, and their five other children up and moved with the weyr. Alesyn had four younger sisters; Jupan, Yska, Marilka, and Izcarona. His youngest sibling was his only other brother named Kaden. Their ages went; 19, 17, 10, 6, and 2.
They were all so excited to be moving to some place new with dragons no less. Especially the youngest Kaden. He was in awe by all the dragons and his mother, Hylenna, had a hard time keeping him away from them. The oldest of them helped their father in building the new weyr and enjoyed feeling that they were actually helping to make their new home into a real home. Nicosyn started to teach Alesyn the ways of holding for the day when he would take over for him being as Alesyn was the oldest. During this time Alesyn met a beautiful young girl by the name of Posiasin. It was love at first sight and his parents approved of her. Life couldn't have been better for him. He had his younger siblings, his parents, and wonderful fiance.
Of course as fate goes, things changed dramatically. On the day of the eruption Alesyn was with his father and his young brother, helping one of the beastmaster with his animals. A few of the herdbeast decided to birth their young that day so they were helping with breeches. One second the day was beautiful and the next it was a day from the void itself. The ground started shaking and a dark cloud of ash covered the sun. Lord Nicosyn grabbed Kaden and yelled at Alesyn to run for cover. They ran for one of the buildings, but everything happened so fast. At once the ground flipped and flung Alesyn into the air. He fell hard onto the ground and turned to see where his dad and brother was. What he saw will haunt his dreams for the rest of his life. A split in the ground appeared and before he could get to his feet the shaky earth swallowed up his dad and little brother. Their screams could be heard over the eruption as hot steam assaulted them as they fell to their deaths. Alesyn's scream was even louder though, since he knew that there was nothing he could do. He then blacked out from the noxious gases that came from the earth.
A few days later he woke up in an infirmary. His head was pounding, but he was alive. Once he was well enough the healer finally told him what had happened. Luckily nothing else happened in the spot where his father and brother was killed and not a lot of the gases leaked up from the ground. He had been on the brink of death for awhile though and they were afraid that he wasn't going to survive. Inwardly he wished he hadn't. He demanded to be told about how bad it was. The news only depressed him further. Then they gave him the worse news of all. His mother and all but Jupan had been killed during the eruption, even his beloved fiance. Jupan had some how came out of it unscratched and was helping the healers. After that Alesyn fell into deep depression for a full sevenday, refusing to eat but allowing them to give him water.
Now he is the official Lord Holder though he knows he is know where near ready for it. He is doing his best to do right by his father and in memory of all the family he lost. His sister is right by his side day in a day out, but she still worries that he might do something drastic. She wishes he would cheer up some. Even though some much was lost they was still a way to make things better again. She knows how much he misses Posiasin, but knows also that it is his duty to take a wife and bear children that will in turn be the future Lord Holders here. As for now though he is taking it one day at a time.
