001.Regarding Smartasses Do not under any circumstances give staff a hard time. Have a complaint? Make it over a PM, and make sure it's civil.
002. Regarding Copyright and Canon Dragonriders of Pern is a book series owned and copywrited to the author Anne McCaffrey. Creative license over the world will be utilized. Please not that this is a non-canonical RP setting. You may not base your character on any real person or character, whether fictional or nonfictional. Be original. However, aside from the top banner, if I have made a graphic for this website you would really like to use, you may get my permission - or I can make one for you. I don't mind, and I won't bitch. I'll even share the color codes for the forum if someone is interested.
003. Regarding Post Length Posts on the forum must be at least 250 words long. Do not repeat the same word over and over again and spam your own posts. Actually roleplay. If you don't want to roleplay, why are you here? Beginner RPers are expected to notify staff members so as to be excluded from this rule. Personal illness, general muselessness, and other sorts of reasons are accepted excuses, but overall, the limit is 250 and we expect it followed.
004.Regarding OOC Notices OOC or "Out of Character" notices need to be marked as such and kept separate from IC or "In Character" posts. Please do not have an OOC notice show up in the middle of a post. They may only be found at either the top or bottom of a post. Also, please do not post how many words your post was at the bottom of each IC post you make. If you posted, I'll believe you that it met our limit.
005. Regarding Graphics and Signatures Please no signatures that stretch the board. They cannot be higher than 200px (pixels). Avatars must be 100x100 or anything smaller. If you'd ever like me to resize an avatar for you, I will if you ask. Otherwise, I will delete your avatar if yours glitches.
You do not have to pick a play-by or face claim. If you do, make sure you have the actor/anime character/picture title&artist added to a list. What you should not do when picking a play-by is pick someone because they look emo, etc, unless you are playing a character under eighteen. Try to be responsible though, all right?
Also, please have a list of your other characters available within the signature of all profiles.
006. Regarding Applications You must have your application accepted before you may post. I'll let you post in the OOC area but nowhere else please. The word you need to access to post templates is: soaring. Use all lowercase and do not put in the period or any spaces.
007. Regarding Personality Play nice out of character. Characters, however, can be as big of douchebags as you like. OOC does not get treated as IC, IC does not get treated like OOC. If you throw a hissy fit because something happened IC you don't like, you'll swiftly get a warning or a banning depending on how much of a fit you throw. Likewise, if two players don't like each other -- don't play with each other, all right? I don't want any fights. Love each other, mmkay?
008. Regarding Accounts and Punctuation You may have one character per account and up to eight accounts. That's right, eight. If you don't keep some active, then kill off that character. It's easy enough, huh? Characters not played for a least one thread every 2 months will have their players notified. Dragonrider accounts must have the display name the rider’s name and then “of” and the dragon’s name. Please do not put your dragon’s color in the title. It will be obvious based on the coloring the title is changed to. Example: “X’lax of Dizenith”. Candidates should say “Candidate Soandso” and etc.
Sign up in all proper punctuation and letters, please. In the least, have this be your display name by the time that you have been accepted. I expect proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar to the best of your abilities. If you're not very good with such things, then please PM the admin account or an admin character account you may see online and let 'em know! Also, I do not want your character having some sort of name like "Riot" or "Chaos" unless it's a nickname or a parody please. (Ex. A’hole is obviously a parody name.)
Do not make an account, as in accordance with the TOS, unless you are 13, and even then only if you are able to handle violent or sexual themes. I don't want players getting carried away with these things, but topics of the sort may arise. They are not aimed to hurt anyone's feelings and never may these things be discussed OOC unless you're preplanning something to happen IC.
009. Regarding Swearing Swearing is permitted both IC and OOC; though “Pernese swears” are required. However, racial slurs are not permitted OOC under any circumstances, nor will I tolerate any unfairness to anyone based on sexual preference, gender, religious views, or like thereof. Got it? We're nice OOC. Keep that stuff in character.
010. Regarding Marking Threads Threads which are reserved for a specific character should have that character's name in the title in brackets or their players handle. (A handle means screenname.) If anyone may reply, then mark it as "[open]".
If a thread has content such as a lot of gore or characters getting down and dirty in any way that they may, please have the first thing in your thread title be [M!]. This lets everyone know that the content of the thread may be disturbing to the unsuspecting reader. Also, there will be two private password protected boards for such things – so please don’t do anything too bad before you get there. I’m sure you’ll know when “too far” is “too far”.
011. Regarding the C-BOX Simple enough, do not advertise in the cbox. Do not spam the cbox talking about how incredibly bored you are for ten minutes or something, either. Guests are always welcome to my happy cbox land. Treat them with the same respect you would a fellow player. Don't go insulting people or picking fights via the cbox or I'll ban you from using it. They're just a nice way for people to make friends before joining a site and keep contact while posting. Use them as such. Also, please have in brackets behind your handle in the cbox stating what character account you’re currently signed in as.
012. Regarding Death and Fighting Characters are allowed to die without admin permission. They may also get pregnant, or whatever else you so desire. I don't own them, you do, and I expect you to torture them as much as any other player does. However, when fighting, I have very simple rules. All fight posts may only contain one attack and one dodge per post. During a fight, each party much take at least one hit of damage. You're playing humans, so they need to get busted up like humans do.
You may not assume another player's character has been wounded, that an attack has gone through, or that you have killed another person's character. This is referred to as powerplaying. You may not under any circumstances play another person's character or assume something has happened to a character which has not been expressly mentioned as happening.
You may however manipulate the setting of a fight thread.
EXAMPLE. If you're fighting in a bar, and you've already described your character ("A") as in the corner of the bar, at a poker table, half in the dark, and sitting down. When another character ("B") rushes up and puts a gun to A's back. B cannot assume that A was shot, but B may assume that A cannot go anywhere as A was noted to be sitting, and nobody else may have noticed because A was sitting off in the dark. B has the right to assume that A cannot counterattack. A may, however, duck beneath the table on A's next post. This counts as A's dodge. If A draws a weapon, this counts as A's attack for that post and B may post again.
Obviously the above example is not truly relevant to Pern, but it gets the point across, does it not? If ever a fight arises over discrepancies of an in character fight, let an administrator or moderator know immediately.
