Welcome
Canaulia Weyr is based in the 7th pass of Pern, pre-AIVAS. Canaulia is a new Weyrhold, built upon what turned out to be an active volcano which has ruined everything leaving the colonists to far to reach home and motherless eggs upon the sands. The people are attempting to clean up the scorched remains of the old Weyrhold, but things are just getting harder.

 A Life Changed (Open)

What beautiful water. What gloriously serene moisture. The lake was still very lovely, in spite of all that had happened, but at least Brylorea wasn't sorely tempted enough to dive in for a splash. Even though it didn't quite look it, the water was dangerous, deadly and all consuming. Bending down, she ripped a tuff of grass from the ground and flung it into the crystal waters.

As soon as the blades gently cascaded into the water, rippling as they hit the polished surface, the bright, cheerful green pieces of grass hissed and shivered. They twisted and writhed, burning as they were devoured by the acid in the water.

Just like her mother and father must have gone, Brylorea mused, frowning into the water the gentle disturbance that had cause the ripples slowly faded into nonexistence. Had Henerik died in a similar fashion? Swallowed up and devoured by some monstrous force that was unleashed when the volcano erupted? Brylorea hadn't actually seenwhat had happened, but the stories the others told...the stories that her brother had told...

She shuddered, suppressing a wave of grief and nausea. It had already been sometime since it happened, but thinking about it still made her feel...raw inside. Brylorea supposed this was normal, as losing her parents and best friend in the way that she had was pretty traumatic. Still, she shouldn't turn into a weepy female every time she thought about it all.

With an unhappy frown she sat herself up on the lake's edge, scowling at it's benign looking surface, thinking just how much she'd fancy a swim right now.

Jacina wanted away, from all the people. In her current state she was as ill tempted as a Queen about to rise. Today had been the beginning of her moon time and she was very much irritated by that. There would be no water to clean in while she waited her skin being sensitive till she was closer to the end of her cycle. Growling she had her way along the end of the lake.

HMPH! Some lake! Why call it that when it was nothing more than an illusion? It was dumb to name it after the Queen who passed. Where they trying to put a bad omen on their self? Funny name a lake that could cause death on a Queen who died...Not smart in her mind. Her fustration grew enough that she kicked a rock into the water with a loud plop. Some of the water splashed onto the shore and hissed when it came into contact with land. Hissing back at it Jacina walked on, her brown hues catching sight of a figure up a head.

Cursing she was about to turn around, but stopped. Thinking on it, she was tired of venting by herself. The main reason she had left the Weyr was only because she couldn't handle the large crowd, and the men...Those fools! They just didn't understand the stress a woman went through in her moon time. Turning to get a good look, the figure looked to be a girl. Oh, better, at least the girl wouldn't look at her with that kicked puppy look when she snarled at them for being slow.

Walking over as she had before, most of her irritation gone the Crafter turned Candidate tilted her head before stopping a few feet away.

"Hey there." Jacina turned her eyes on the lake, seeing as how the girl glared at it. With an over dramatic sigh she flopped onto the ground. "A swim would be wonderful. Stupid lake being as it is, I guess we are stuck to only wish for such a thing. Name's Jacina. What's your's?"

The noise of the Weyr trying to rebuild itself caused Anrelo's head to hurt, and his back itched horribly that he ended up being pushed to the edge of the fray. Sighing, he turned from the busy Weyr and moved out toward the Bowl, skirting the sands where the Queen had died with her Rider, and her mate was now guarding her eggs, and heading toward the lake, hoping for peace and quiet.

The tunic that draped tenderly across his shoulders was two sizes to big, as the Healer had stated that he would need to let the burn mark breath to help with the healing. To bad that every time the breeze picked up, it would move his tunic, causing the fabric to graze over his tender blister and cause him to wince, though he refused to whimper. Whimpering wouldn't do him any good. What was done, was done. He would just have to live with the constant reminder that he couldn't help the Queen or the Weyrwoman.

As Anerlo moved toward the lake that was named after the past Gold dragon, he couldn't help but stop and gaze out over the water. He could remember spying on the Gold as she had sun bathed, or had taken a swim within the very lake that was named after her, before . . . . The pain started anew, even as the breeze picked up, moving his tunic and causing the acidic water of the lake to turn choppy, splashing onto the shore and causing several hissing sounds.

Turning his gaze to his left, he spotted two people; one laying at the water's edge, while the other stood, looking out over the water. He was too far to be able to hear, and he also couldn't tell if the two people were male or female. Either way, he wasn't interested in talking, thus he stayed as he was, one arm dangling beside his hip, while the his other hand was resting at his elbow, gripping onto his flesh, trying to keep the scream within him. It may have felt good to come out to the lake named after their fallen Queen and raged at the skies, cursing them for taking the Gold and her Rider.
